Darcy contemplating life and the WEG
Joining the hype of the World Equestrian Games this month, I thought I’d give the lovely CP Qualified and Shane a bit of love and attention this blog.
Shane and I own the very big imported Holstein Warmblood CP Qualified (Darcy); even though technically Darcy’s in my name, my parents obviously play a huge role in supporting the partnership and I have to thank them every chance I get for doing so.
Starting right back to the basics; Darcy is a 17hh Grey Gelding by Quite Capitol. He was originally imported out to Australia from Holland by George Sanna. After not quite being up to scratch for their expectations in the jumping field, Rachel Watts took him over for dressage purposes, where he won the Sydney Young Horse as a 4 year old in 2007. After his time was finished with this at and other stables he eventually found his way to my computer screen, jaw dropped and eyes glistening.
Now ridden by Shane, my family and I get to experience all the glory of having a successful horse, without any of the hard work – sounds pretty good to me!
The past two years since the pair’s debut has been success after success, as it seems to be, they’re a perfect match. As a keen eventer myself, it’s safe to say this partnership has been a joyous and educational experience to what it takes to be the best in our sport. Now we eagerly wait for the biggest event one of our horses has ever been involved in, The World Equestrian Games. I say it over and over again because it’s hard to grasp it’s actually happening!
The morning before they departed from Tullamarine, mum and I drove up to see Darcy be worked, check up on the goof and give him plenty of pats and good luck vibes. Feeling rather chuffed and extremely proud leaving the stables, we then ventured back up that evening to see them off at the airport; now I’ll leave the rest all for you guys to see in pictures!
