Great news has greeted me and fired me right up into making this year the best and most exciting yet. Being added to the National 'A' squad and listed on the Shadow Team leading into London is a great way to kick the year into action. The horses are fit and happy, with their plan of action ready to roll out and hit the eventing season with great gusto!
We (Emma, Mustang and Monyana) have just been on our first adventure down to Werribee and stopped in at Mal Byrne Performance Saddlery. We were greeted with the lovely staff and the best service as usual, not to mention the leather masterpieces they make! We had a quick saddle check to make sure the boys are comfortable with their saddles and a couple of new luxurious leather goods and we were on our way again.
Next stop was to get the horses fitted out with super performance Nike Air shoes installed by William Collyer, Master Farrier who we met with at the lovely residence of Cassie Lowe and Rob Palm. We had a good bit of a chin-wag and catch up on what is happening in the Victorian eventing scene in between assessing the condition of the horses’ hooves. Then we were all wrapped up and ready to travel the seven hours home; it maybe seems a bit crazy to travel that far to get shoes put on but it is well worth the effort to have happy sound horses. So we are in full swing to get back up to Sydney and competing again the last weekend of February.
The other exciting news is at Jenbern Park (the ASH Stud owned by my aunt and uncle, Jenny and Bernie Davie) where Mustang's half sister, Intergear (by Interstella, out of Coonamony) has had a chestnut foal with nearly identical markings to Mustang! We’re very excited to see if this youngster can fill the big shoes of Mustang in the future. Another home bred (but this time bred by my dad, Jeff Finch) filly out of a TB mare and by Koyuna Majestic Supreme is going to be started by my brother, Jason Scott very soon. She is a lovely big filly who I'm sure will develop and carry on the qualities the Koyuna Stud have been producing for many years. I dont really have many exciting photos of at home to include as I'm always riding by
myself, although I did take a funny random video in my iphone as I was riding - here it is!
