Good news, I’m heading south to the winter wonderland of Melbourne 3 day event, one of my favorite events. Mustang will have a run in the CNC class that has been specially put on for the ‘shadow squad’ and show Australia his outstanding qualities, displaying why we are worthy of making a trip to London.
The excitement has kept building since our fabulous performance at Sydney 3 day event, where Mustang was amazing through the whole event! The excitement after pulling off a beautiful test was celebrated for a brief moment before the seriousness of the cross country had to be our main focus. The course looked challenging and with hill after hill after hill we set out knowing we would have to be on our game … and we smashed it! Mustang carved it up like a true champion coming in clear under time and feeling great. I was walking on cloud nine having completed the first two phases right on target.

Sitting in second going into the showjumping and with scores so close I was convinced I was going into jump clear and was devastated when I heard a fence fall. Mustang really had jumped like a super star but it just wasn’t us taking home the blue ribbon on that weekend. Never mind the weekend wrap up and I was absolutely delighted with our performance. It really was a weekend where my years of hard work and dedication came together and we hit our targets!
I must thank my team of people who keep on helping me through this wild journey to attain my targets. They really do a great job as can be seen in the picture below of Mustang having been beautifully groomed for trot-up by my brother Jason. I might add how wonderful it was to see such a great media presence, who were interested in our sport, at a top event and I really enjoyed the couple of interviews I did.
Mustang has had a bit of a rest now and is back in preparing to back up his performance at Melbourne. Looking forward to seeing you all down there, it is shaping up to be another spectacular event and you won’t want to miss it!
