The King and I at Goulburn - will I have to hand him back??
The last few months of 2012 were huge. I took on my new horse ‘Scenicwood’ (Woody) and also took over my sister Jaymee’s ride from last year ‘Murrabong Kinganui’ (King).
When I first got Woody I had no idea how much work and effort it would be to take on this horse; the first months where tough, having to ride every day to improve both his skills and mine. Then, just as I was just getting used to all this labour and hard work mum told me I should start riding King as well! So I started riding King and Woody all by myself!! Mum eventually started helping out with the riding (which was great!).
My first event on my new horse Woody was Quirindi (6 hours away!) where I was doing the Preliminary class. Woody was awesome, had double clear but unfortunately I didn’t place
Wonderful Woody at Berrima!
Then the NSW State Championships at Goulburn! Goulburn was great - it was my first ever win at an event and it was on the awesome KING! After that we were on a roll; I won at Silver Hills on him as well then the last event of the year was Berrima where I finished 4th on King and 1ST ON WOODY in the EvA105 Junior! (Even though I had a rail in the showjumping!) In second place was Kirby Delamont whose family kindly sponsor the class and I felt very special to be with Kirby in the line up with my Highland Drilling rug. So 2012 was great, the best year so far...
At the moment I am on holidays and haven’t ridden much as my horses are on a break and we are spending time at the beach near Forster for a few weeks. In 2013 I’m planning to stick with two horses but Jaymee wants King back! BUT she is hopefully going to Uni? Maybe Nidhi (Dev, King’s owner) will be back to ride him so that will sort everything out! If not- I don’t know how it is going to work because I’m not going to give him up that quickly!
I’m going to try move up the grades with Woody and hopefully be successful! But my main aim is to get to Adelaide 2* in 2013.....maybe a little out of reach but thinking that I should at least aim high!
