OMG I'm on the Youth Squad!

After Adelaide I was considering a retirement as I was exhausted to say the least. Well maybe not so much of a retirement but I was lucky enough to enjoy a nice long break from school and horse riding which I thought I deserved! We went over to Bali which was amazing and my holidays involved lots or relaxing and doing absolutely nothing, my idea of heaven.

With school starting back up again and the HSC getting abit too close for comfort I had to consider not being so competitive this year. Unfortunately riding has to become a second priority to my studies, as everyone says you only get one shot at the HSC. But with only a few assignments due at the moment I decided to get in a few competitions such as SIEC weekend where I finished 4th in the 1*, good effort for our first event back. Me and King then went on to win the 2* competition at the NSW interschool’s, this does sound good but I should point out that I was the only one actually competing in the class! I was looking forward to doing Scone but with King, not me, a bit worn out I got kicked off the truck by my younger sister, who was looking forward to finally being able to compete her new horse, after he has been off with a slight injury.

All things going well

OMG guys guess what! I forgot to mention that I have been selected into the National Elite Youth Squad this year! How awesome is that. Only eight juniors from across Australia are selected and I’m in good company with Megan Byrant also being selected from NSW. I feel so privileged to be given this opportunity and being inducted into the NSW institute of sport is so exciting (just ask my parents I have been dancing around the house), and I’m sure King feels the same even though his facial expression didn’t change much when I told him.

I’ve got to say one annoying thing about riding so much has to be that I am highly allergic to horses. I have to take a anti allergy tablet every time I ride but my eczema (skin condition) still seems to react badly every time I spend too much time with horses. So if anyone has any suggestions or who has the same annoying problem feel free to send them to me, anything would help!

See ya
