Hi Everyone!
I was just taking a quick look thru the Eventful Life blog archive to remind myself of what I'd written in my most recent update and I was struck by two things:
1) My last update was rather a long time ago! Four months, instead of on the monthly schedule, oops..!
and
2) I'm not the only one who is terrible at sticking to a schedule!
Winter has ended, we've completed the spring season and are now halfway into summer. Two of my Advanced horses have now moved up to 3 Star, we've moved back north and sold some young horses. Along the way I unfortunately broke my right shoulder and tore my rotator cuff in a fall. Before you think to yourself 'didn't she just break something?', you are correct. Last year it was my jaw. I'm typically quite safe and accident free (it's been 10 years since my last major injury!) but these two have just come right on top of each other. Hence I found myself five weeks out from Bromont CCI 3 star, where I had three horses entered, and completely out of commission.
My girls did a great job of keeping the horses fit and I was finally able to ride usefully the week before the event. They were all good, however Civil Liberty was the standout. Libby is a horse I found very early on in his career and have been quietly chipping away at all three phases and feel as though he's really ready to shine at the 3 and 4 Star level. He is now qualified for Kentucky 4 star next year, which is lovely. My next plan is to take him overseas to do another CCI 3 star in September and prior to that I'll do a couple of Advanceds and CIC's here.
As I've mentioned in the past, summer is HOT here! It's much like Sydney, although not as humid as Brisbane. Most days I try to get my riding done as early as possible. This year is no exception so our next decent shows will be north into New York.
Thanks for reading!
