I was pretty happy with Arveys (Taurus) at Sydney 3 Day Event
Life as we know it is about to change! After eight years with Shane and Niki we are on the eve of welcoming a baby to Bimbadeen Park!
Of course work will go on as normal for us. We get up early to clean boxes and feed before working the 50 breakers we have in to work at the moment.
This is the busy time of the year as far as the racehorses go for us. All the young two year olds are coming to us to be broken in and learn the ropes before heading off to the race-track. Add onto that all the eventers that we currently have in work and you run out of fingers! At last count we have 125 horses on the property, the majority of which are being worked.
Back to the baby talk, ‘The Kids’ as Shane affectionately calls myself and fellow employees are all excited to meet the newest member of the family … and to see Shane changing nappies!!!
In between riding horses, Shane has been busy building a viewing shelter by the arena so that Niki and the new baby can keep a close eye on the horses being worked. I think both of them are pretty excited about the upcoming arrival.
From my point of view I’m still running on a high after Arveys (Taurus) at Sydney 3 day event! Last year was a tough one so it’s nice to see all the hard work now paying off. We have had a brilliant start to the year with Shane taking out every 3 star he has entered so far! He was on a similar streak with his 2 star horse Virgil until he forgot to lock his landing gear at Sydney. Both Shane and Virgil were not hurt but came back very wet and very dirty! It must have been the start of something in the air, because on the Monday after the event three of our riders came adrift of their racehorses. It doesn’t happen very often but when it does, they all seem to do it at once!
The team in action at Sydney
Never wanting a minute to go without doing something we have Eventing Equestriad at Camden coming up, so it’s all hands on deck. In our spare time we are busy building judges boxes and we will be holding a working bee on the 20th of May for anyone who is keen to come along and help out. I hope you all have your entries in, it’s going to be another cracking event.
NEWS FLASH!
Shane and Niki welcomed Olivia Cleo Rose into the world this morning at 8.22 – we are all very excited!
