Debbie Higgs was born in Yorkshire, England but dropped her Yorkshire accent when she moved south to study French and Drama at London University. Confusingly for people who know her from her early life, she now also speaks with an Australian accent as she moved even further south in 1983. Some highlights of her professional life include being the personal assistant for the owner of The Dorchester Hotel (flitting around the world on private planes and yachts), making lots of money (sadly, now all spent) in the crazy 1980’s hey days of the computer industry and publishing a book called An Eventful Life – Life Stories of Eventing Champions

She loves eventing but wouldn't do it herself in a pink fit; instead she is lucky to have a lovely warmblood horse who learns how to do clever stuff in his paddock and then teaches it to his mum. She's also lucky to to have owned showjumpers with Greg and Pam Smith for many years, including World Cup horses Henry Higgs and Big Higgs

She manages to keep persuading her long-suffering husband Paul to involve their Publishing Services company, Palmer Higgs in horsey projects (like this web site). They live together on a property about one hour from Melbourne with horses, dogs, cats and anybody else who happens to drop by
