Equestrian Australia (EA) and Racing NSW have confirmed details of Equimillion, a multi-discipline event to be held at the end of September 2023 offering $1 million in prizemoney.
The equestrian event to be held at Sydney International Equestrian Centre exclusively for retired thoroughbred racehorses will feature classes in Eventing, Showjumping, Dressage and Show Horse from Saturday 30th September – Monday 2nd October.
For eventing, there will be five levels of competition; EvA65, EvA80, EvA95, CCN1*-S and CCN2*-S. Competitors must be members of EA and can enter a horse at one level below that for which they have official competition results.
Horse must have been registered with Racing Australia with a microchip and been bred with the intent to race (evidence of race records, trials and/or barrier education and jump outs) with brands present on the horse for visual identification and linked with microchip.
The focus is very much on retired racehorses from NSW. Horses entered must have officially retired from racing, been predominantly domiciled in NSW up until the point of official retirement from racing with Named Horses raced predominantly in NSW and Unnamed Horses bred and retired in NSW.
While the prizemoney is high ($30,000 per class and prizemoney paid down to 5th place) so too are the entry fees with a two-stage fee process. Riders first nominate their horse eligibility ($600 Nomination Fee) and, if accepted, then pay an additional $400 entry fee
