The equestrian sport of eventing

The FEI World Equestrian Games, created in 1990 are held every four years and are by far the largest equestrian event. In 2014, the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2014 in Normandy will be host to 8 World Championships, one of which is Eventing, known in France as le Concours Complet

An Olympic discipline, it is often referred to as the « equestrian triathlon» as it consists of three different events over three days to be carried out by the same rider/horse team:

- A Dressage test

- A “Cross-country” test, by far the most selective. The competitors are expected to get over thirty, fixed natural obstacles lining the outdoor track over a distance of more than 6,500 m at an average speed of 570 m/minute,

- A Jumping test

The final ranking is determined by adding up the number of penalty points during the three events.

Eventing is one of the most demanding and spectacular events that highlights the horse’s speed, endurance, precision and its agility when faced with an obstacle.
