French eventing rider Maxime Livio has received notification from the FEI that the B blood sample taken from Qalao des Mers at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG) has tested positive for the tranquiliser product Acepromazine.
It is reported that Maxime is keen to defend himself and resolve the situation as quickly as possible and it is expected that the FEI Tribunal hearing will take place in the coming weeks.
In addition to a possible suspension of six months Maxime, who was fifth individually and part of the fourth placed French team, risks disqualification from the WEG. This would result in France losing its qualification for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio leaving the door open for seventh placed Canada to automatically qualify. The fifth and sixth qualified teams were Australia and Ireland
