Selection starts for WEG test event in Normandy

Two riders from each country, up to a maximum of 50 riders, will be competing at the Eventing Test Event at Le Pin in Normandy, France from 15th – 18th August as part of preparations for the 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games

British Eventing has advised that two riders, Piggy French from Maidwell, Northamptonshire and Gemma Tattersall from Horsham, West Sussex have been selected

Piggy French will ride Westwood Mariner owned by Mrs Kate French, Mrs Susie Wood, Mrs Susan Wrighton and Mr James Midgley while Gemma Tattersall will ride Tropique jointly owned by herself, Ms Charlotte Huggett and Mrs Sue Johnstone.

"It will be great to have Piggy there who has already experienced what a test event is about as she won the London one. Gemma's input will also be important as she has already competed at Haras du Pin so knows the venue” said World Class Performance Manager for Eventing, Yogi Breisner

The event, which is designed to test the technical and logistical aspects of the venues, will be run at CCI 2* level, the week before the usual event staged at Le Pin, Le Grand Complet, a CIC 3* event

Shane Rose has already indicated that he will be competing at Le Grand Complet but we wait to see who will be named as Australian riders at the test event

An Eventful Life will be attending both events and bringing reports, photos and interviews as part of our 4* coverage from Normandy in August
