On the road in Caen - we nipped around the venues in our trusty little 'custard' car
With individual tickets going on sale on Tuesday 4th March for all disciplines of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games we thought we’d give you a quick look at some videos of the venues in Caen we took last year
In July 2013 Libby Law and Debbie Higgs were in Normandy to cover the World Equestrian Games Eventing Test Event and Le Grand Complet CIC3* at Le Pin au Haras but they were also on a mission to find out more about the beautiful city of Caen and the venues for the 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Normandy
The competition venues located in Caen are;
D’Ornano Stadium: where the opening and closing ceremonies, the jumping and dressage competitions and the jumping phase of the eventing are to be held
Zenith Indoor Arena: next to the Exhibition Centre, this indoor arena will host the vaulting competitions
The Exhibition Centre: will be the event’s organisational nerve centre as well as hosting the reining competitions, the Games Village and its exhibits, restaurants and entertainment
Prairie Racecourse: where carriage driving and para-dressage will be held
All of these competition arenas are located close to the centre of Caen (within a 1.5-kilometre radius of Caen city centre) so you can easily walk or cycle between the sites and there will also be free shuttle buses between the venues. If you’re thinking of driving into Caen there will be three Park and Ride car parks providing 4,500 free parking spaces near the city in Fleury, in Beaulieu, and in the Presqu’île neighbourhood of Caen. The free shuttle bus service will also run between these car parks and the four competition venues
We took some little snippets of video when we were there last year – a lot of work and changes would have been made to the venues since then but they give a quick overview of the locations
