Adelaide Star-Studded Virtual Guided Course Walk

Spectators and eventing enthusiasts all over the world will be able to download a free virtual guided course walk of the Australian International 3 Day Event 4* course with William Fox-Pitt, Paul Tapner, Clayton Fredericks, Megan Jones and Sam Griffiths to their iPhone or iPad from Friday 23rd November.

“Rider course walks are always popular and increase spectator enjoyment and understanding”, said Event Director Gill Rolton. “Now a far wider audience will have this mine of extra information about the jumps and expert insights into Wayne Copping’s course conveniently to hand”.

Using the free CrossCountry Lite iPhone app, spectators can pan and zoom around the detailed course and satellite map, click jumps to view photos and hear which fences are expected to cause problems and why. They learn what line to take, where to make up time and how these top riders would respond if, for example, their horse jumped too boldly into the water.

Half a meter is the difference between getting over this jump or not" explained Paul Tapner of the Equestrian Australia Corner Brushes in his 2011 course walk.

Simply download CrossCountry Lite from the App Store, then go to crosscountryapp.com on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch to download the official 2012 virtual course walk.

The Ultimate Spectator Tool

Spectators walking the course use it just as they might listen to a guided audio tour in an art gallery. They can plan which jumps to watch and find their way around the course. “Virtual” spectators worldwide can browse the course as they follow the competition online or before they watch live on FEI-TV.

Don’t have an iPhone?

PC and other smartphone users will be able to view an interactive map with clickable jumps on the crosscountryapp.com/ and  australian3de.com.au/ websites

International riders will fly in just before the competition starts and many mobile jumps must be installed in the Adelaide Parklands in the final lead up to the event. The locally developed CrossCountry app will enable the Australian International Three Day Event to deliver a groundbreaking experience in this tight timescale to many thousands of spectators on course and around the world.
