Join Clayton Fredericks and many other top eventers in the VIP Hospitality 5 Star Club at Adelaide
Every year we treat ourselves to at least one day in the VIP Hospitality 5 Star Club at Adelaide. The food is great, the South Australian wines flow and you invariably meet some lovely new friends or catch up with old ones. There is a good chance you’ll bump into a top class eventer or two; this year Aussie boys Clayton Fredericks, Chris Burton, Sam Griffiths and Paul Tapner will all be guests in the 5 Star Club Marquee as will the HSBC Ambassador, William Fox-Pitt so there will be plenty of opportunity to ‘meet and greet’ these visitors, not to mention many of our own top Australian based eventers who will no doubt be popping in when they’re not busy competing.
Last year I ran into a fellow Victorian, Greg Browne who is a keen amateur eventer and polo player. Greg, his wife Elizabeth and a few of their friends have been attending the Adelaide event since 1999 and he says that it just keeps getting ‘better and better’
“We enjoy the VIP hospitality at the Australian 3 Day Event for many reasons” he says “First, it’s a great place to catch up with eventing friends from around Australia – a chance to relax, have a drink and at the same time keep tabs on all riders’ progress. And, typically Australian, there is no formality or snobbishness. There are always a few competitors and owners around to have a chat with and the big screen is terrific. The marquee is so well positioned, with the lovely Grandstand as a backdrop to dressage and show jumping, and with great visibility for the start and finish on Saturday”
“We’ve been lucky to be able to attend many of the big 3DEs overseas, but Adelaide, with its city centre, parkland setting is unique”
On hot days the marquee provides shade and a cool place to sit (not to mention the water pistols which were supplied on the 42 degree cross country day a few years ago) – in fact, whatever the weather it is the perfect place to enjoy eventing in unusually elegant surroundings which, on Friday the 23rd of November, will be also featuring some very elegant fashion.
Guests of the VIP Hospitality 5 Star Club will be treated to an exclusive fashion parade, showcasing some gorgeous pieces from Australia’s leading designers. Adelaide’s own Miss Gladys Sym Choon will be presenting the show and store owner Joff Chappel is looking forward to joining in on the festivities of Australia’s only four star event.
“The horse trials equestrian event has brought a new generation of customers into Miss Gladys Sym Choon over its five years in the East End,” he said.
The parade will feature pieces from Razak, Briony Marsh, Lisa Brown, Maud Dainty, Ziggy and Rollie. With international brands such as G Star, Desigual and Jeffrey Campbell available in store, so it is no wonder that Miss Gladys Sym Choon refers to itself as the “House of Plenty.” The store sources unique clothing, footwear and accessories from around Australia and the world and will be adding a touch of equestrian to the show.
“We love it, healthy women (and men) who can do dressage almost by definition look good in a Razak frock,” Mr. Chappel said.
Miss Gladys Sym Choon has been providing unique fashion pieces to Adelaide since it opened its doors in 1923. With new Aussie designers, international stars and wholesome old school service, Friday’s fashion parade is sure to be unmissable.
