Megan Jones’ Kirby Park Allofasudden has been scratched from the 4* at this year’s Australian International 3 Day Event due to on-going foot problems from last year.
“It’s a minor problem” says Megan “We’ve been working hard with our farrier to try and solve it but you just can’t risk it at a big event like this”
Kirby Park Allofasudden was vetted out just days out from the start of the London Olympic Games due to an injury to the left fore foot and was not fit enough to compete last year in Adelaide after travelling back from overseas. However he has been going well lately including a win at Reynella Horse Trials
It just doesn’t seem to be a lucky time for the South Australian Olympic medallists. Megan, whose Kirby Park Stud is in Hahndorf just outside of Adelaide, is the second locally based rider to have to pull out of the 4* after Wendy Schaeffer broke her tibia last week.
Megan and Kirby Park Allofasudden had also received a wild card entry for the Be the Influence Grand Final Exhibition Eventing at Equitana in Sydney on Friday. Although Megan can’t compete on her own horse she has been given the catch ride on Megan Bryant’s Talinga Cavalier (below) as this Megan has broken her arm.
“It’s going to be a real catch ride” said Megan “I fly in to Sydney at 8am that morning, the dressage starts at 9:30 and I’m the last one on. By the time I get to Equitana there will literally be just time to warm up for the test!”
Of course Megan will be in Adelaide at the Australian International 3 Day Event so there will be plenty of time to catch up with her – sadly you just won’t get to see her ride this year but there will be no missing her in her new MJET Musto signature gear!
