Amanda Ross achieves lifelong goal

   Amanda Ross and Loxley

Tooradin Horse Trials provided a great weekend of eventing in south eastern Victoria and while Casey Stoner was claiming the prize a few miles down the road at Phillip Island, Amanda Ross and Will Enzinger were scooping the pool at Tooradin.

The property ‘Tooradin Estate’ has a wonderful black sandy loam which makes for lovely going cross country but as a lot of the course is hidden by bush it means that for the lazy strapper/spectators (me), you have the situation where you watch the first two jumps then walk across to the finish and hope for the best! Time was hard to make in the 2* cross country and the showj umping ,set as it is on slightly undulating terrain, was influential in all classes.

There were 28 starters in the CNC2* and Amanda Ross achieved a ‘lifelong goal’ by winning the class on Loxley, Will Enzinger came second on  Mousetrap and Amanda also took out third on William Wordsworth.

In the CNC* A  Will took over the reins on his wife Emily's Bvlgari (Emily is pregnant) to score a win while Rachael Feely riding Impian Willy B were successful in the CNC*section B.

Sally Morrison and Howie Who finished on their dressage score to win Pre Novice A as did Will Enzinger riding Glenwood Park Nichols and Dimes to win Pre Novice B.

In the three  Preliminary section the winners were Edith Kane on ESB Golden Zone, Jacqueline O'Riley on Waterford Tilly and Bill Chrisanis on Jaybee Castille.

Well done to the small but dedicated committee who did a great job running this event along with all their volunteers and a big tick for Melbourne Hunt Club catering who make the world's largest hamburgers!

It seems a long time between now and December 7th which is Lakes and Craters at Camperdown. Some riders will be heading over to Adelaide International later in November but hopefully next year Victoria can schedule a November event for the rest of us!
