Andrew Nicholson won’t be riding his Burghley winning horse Avebury next week but it looks as if Avebury is giving Andrew’s fancy pants a quick once over
Andrew has been gearing up for his participation in the St Patrick’s Derby at the Cheltenham Festival on March 12th 2015 in aid of the Injured Jockeys Fund. He’s been busy on the gallops being trained by Barry Geraghty (who told him to shorten his stirrups) while racing legend AP McCoy recently gave Andrew his first ever session on an equicizer (automatic horse), all of which is helping not only Andrew’s training but also making sure he can fit into the jockey’s gear he has to wear next Thursday.
“I am very grateful to Markel for being my sponsor at Cheltenham as I squeeze into this tight jockeys gear! The St Patrick’s Derby is for a great cause in the Injured Jockeys Fund and I can’t wait to take to the racecourse for one – and probably the only - time!” says Andrew.

All this fitness work will certainly help Andrew’s start to the eventing season which kicks off in the UK this week. Find out more about the events that An Eventful Life will be videoing at the UK here
