Equestriad - where Eventing becomes an Event

London Luncheon at Eventing Equestriad

Eventing Equestriad, held at Bicentennial Park, Camden, about 60 km south west of Sydney grows bigger and better every year.

The theme this year (not surprisingly) is London, in view of the pending Olympic Games (and maybe in hope that one of the organisers, elite eventer Shane Rose, is on his way there!) and on Sunday 27th May they will host the London Luncheon

One of the highlights of this event is the extra special care they take to create a VIP marquee with some extra special touches not often found at horse events. This year the marquee will be fitted out by Hickory Hill Home, a new company about to launch a collection of stylish high quality bed linen and accessories in Australia. A special hardwood floor is laid to complement the designer interior so that the ladies brave enough to front up to the lunch in fashionable high heels as opposed to the usual flatties can rest assured of a smooth ride.

Once settled into the comfortable surroundings of the marquee, you can view the horsey action at close quarters without being exposed to the elements. The cross country action passes right by the marquee and there will be large screens showing footage so there is no need to put down your glass of wine to stay in touch with what is happening. Talking of wine, the event is sponsored by Tertini Wines, a boutique winery in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales dedicated to producing premium, cool climate wines. Wine buffs will love it and so will foodies as the high quality Tertini wines will be paired with the food of celebrity chef Lee Hokianga (formerly of MG Garage and Fratelli Fresh). Lee and Jamie McDonald from Pheasant’s Nest Produce will be serving up a three course lunch specially designed for the eventing appetite (no, it won’t be bacon and egg rolls, I can assure you of that; be prepared for culinary delight).

The marquee will be even bigger and better this year, thanks to Hickory Hill Home

The marquee opens at 10am so you get real value for your money ($150 per head) when you consider that you are served morning tea, a wonderful three course lunch with unlimited beverages, live music and yes, you can even watch the horses go by! There will also be a fashion parade by Equissentials and an auction with great prizes, including a Bates saddle. It is the perfect way to spend the day with a group of friends so get organised and book your table before they all sell out.
