Australia was victorious at the 2013 Senior Trans Tasman in Sydney
Trans Tasman competitions which take place between friendly rivals New Zealand and Australia are an important stepping stone for many riders aiming for international team experience.
The next Young Rider Trans Tasman is likely to take place at the Melbourne Three Day Event, June 2014, which will be followed by a joint Trans Tasman for both Seniors and Young Riders at the Taupo Three Day Event in May 2015.
In view of this, Equestrian Sports New Zealand has announced revised Senior Trans Tasman and Performance Squads for the 2013-14 Seasons.
To try and encourage junior riders into eventing, ESNZ also has an Eventing Junior Rider programme which aims to provide mentoring and top quality coaching to junior riders. These lucky juniors get to attend camps with Clarke Johnstone and Jock Paget who will both return to New Zealand annually to hold squad camps with one clinic will be held late spring and the other in the summer. We attended Jock’s camp earlier in the year so no doubt it will be Clarke’s turn later in the year
