The crowds queue in the winter sun at the entrance for some eventing action
The organisers of the Melbourne International 3 Day Event are very pleased with the attendance figures they have so far from this year’s event.
With sunshine on that all important cross country day the crowds flocked to Werribee Park to watch the horses and riders in action. There had been a strong general media push prior to the Queen’s birthday long weekend to try and attract the general public and it certainly seemed to work. Local eventer Cassie Webb was a great pin up girl riding her horse in a long red dress on the front page of the Herald Sun (we won’t mention the helmet Cassie!)
By 10 am on the Sunday morning (cross country day) the spectators were queuing back to the main car park waiting to get in and an overflow car park was put into use.
“Our figures are not 100% final “says Ute Raabe, Event Director “But we believe that we achieved $100, 000 in ticket sales and had an attendance of 25,000 over the four days”
