Everything was going well for Elizabeth early on the course
Elizabeth Wolstenholme was riding the 16.3hh Bay thoroughbred Kelecyn Tori in the CCIJ* at Melbourne International 3 Day Event on the weekend but sadly suffered a bad fall at the very last fence on the cross country course.
However we're pleased to report that Elizabeth's injuries as not as bad as feared and she has sent us a little update and big thank you to all who helped her on the weekend. She says
"I went to the hospital with suspected severe spinal and brain damage and a broken hip, and thankfully after a night in hospital and multiple x-rays and CT scans, I'm fine aside from being pretty sore and battered.
I did sustain muscular swelling to my T3-4 in my spine and very slight bleeding in my abdomen (but thankfully not from my liver or spleen). Hopefully some pretty bruises come out!
I’d like to thank all the medics at Werribee for helping me, the team at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and anyone else who helped me or Tori after my fall and a special thankyou to the QLD team for all the support and get well wishes they have sent me! It's much appreciated."
So near but so far ............... the final fence that brought Elizabeth unstuck
