Winners of the EA80 at Wandin Park 2014 - Brooke Searle and My Bascombe Baci
Equestrian Victoria has announced that it is rescinding its previous decision that eventing horses competing at EvA80 must be registered with Equestrian Victoria in order to compete.
Equestrian Victoria has advised that registration for eventing horses in Victoria will now only be required for horses competing at EvA95 and above which brings Victoria in line with all other States in Australia. Effective immediately, the decision allows horses competing at EvA80 to remain unregistered until they move up to the next level, enabling grassroots competitors to compete more easily at Equestrian Australia (EA) events
With the rising popularity of the Adult Riding Club movement in Victoria, this is a good move by Equestrian Victoria to keep amateur riders involved in EA events. Although many riders can only dream of competing at Olympic level, they can support elite eventing athletes through their membership of EA, which manages the development of future elite riders and horses from an early talent identification level right through to Olympic and World Championship Teams.
In other good news from Equestrian Victoria pro-rata membership is available as of today (21st January). For further details visit the Equestrian Victoria website
