At the Albury Wodonga International Horse Trials this weekend the Puissance Show Jumping (both with and without a saddle) is one of the evening entertainment highlights (although it’s actually under lights). Last year Shane Rose took the bareback jumping title on APH Moritz, jumping 1.55m, as well as the CIC 3* class riding the same horse.
At the Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials they have run an Eventers High Jump challenge for the past few years which Australian rider Paul Tapner has happily joined in, shedding his shirt for some extra jumping 'lives' and to raise money for charity

Now it’s the turn of the Melbourne International 3 Day Event who hope to run the MI3DE High Jump Challenge. This will be a knockout style jumping class which involves just one fence being made higher and higher; if competitors knock down the fence they are out of the next round unless they choose to buy another life by removing a piece of clothing or their saddle!
MI3DE say there will be a prize for the winner – let’s hope it will be something warm for the competitors to put on after jumping as we all know it can be a bit nippy in June in Melbourne.
Anyone who is brave enough, doesn’t mind the cold and has a careful jumping partner should email their details to [email protected]
