John Twomey and Highly Recomended were the only combination in the Horseland CIC3* to take the direct route at the water and they made it look easy.
"It was a pretty tough track," admitted John "but I knew if I could get him to pop into the water and take four short strides before jumping out we would be ok and he was great. Click on the video below to watch John jump the direct route.
All the other riders opted to take the longer route (which you can watch below) including Craig Barrett and Sandhills Brillaire who finished in third place.
John went on to jump a clear round on Sunday afternoon to win the top prize. "It doesn't seem to matter what I do he just keeps on jumping," John laughed. "Coming down the last line I lost my reins and he just kept going - mind you I'm glad I didn't do that coming out of the water! Highly Recomended will know have a couple of days off before getting back in to work. The plan is to take him to the exhibition eventing at Equitana in Melbourne and then carry on to Adelaide for the CCI4* ... I just hope we havent peaked too early."
John''s show jumping round can be seen below - see if you can spot when he looses his reins....
