As well as bringing you all of the news from the Senior Trans Tasman in New Zealand this weekend, we'll also be covering the eventing action in Australia which moves to Queensland on Thursday for the Queensland International 3 Day Event, sponsored by the National Farmers Warehouse (seen below presenting a very large cheque!)
The event will be held at Morgan Park in Warwick, Queensland about 130 km south west of Brisbane. Warwick has a strong history in eventing and is probably most famous for the 42 days of quarantine lockdown when Equine Influenza struck on the eve of the FEI World Cup Eventing qualifier in 2007. There are probably many in the eventing community who got to know the Warwick area very well in those 42 days!
This year the event will be welcoming two officials from overseas as a part of the Global Education Program – Exchange of Officials. One of these will be Joan Ahern from Ireland; Joan has extensive experience in Europe and will be part of the 3* and 2* Ground Jury, headed by President Anne Tylee from New Zealand and Beverley Shandley from Australia. The other will be a Jaroslav Stanék from the Czech Republic; Jaroslav is a very experienced FEI 3* and 4* Technical Delegate and he will join the Technical Team, headed up by CIC 3* TD, Dr Vince Roche from Australia, CCI 2* TD, Michael Ruddy from Australia, and CCNPN TD, Norman Hindmarsh from Australia. Jaroslav will be responsible for the CCI 1* Class.
In addition to the CIC/CCI/CCN classes there will also be plenty happening in the lower levels with two Introductory and Preliminary sections. There is a Riders Welcome Party on Thursday night then all classes get into the dressage on Friday with all cross country on Saturday and show jumping on Sunday.
This short video put together by students from QUT from footage shot during last year’s event gives a flavour of what to expect at this year’s National Farmers Warehouse Queensland International 3 Day Event.
