With entries topping over 600 it appears that the majority of eventers from NSW and beyond will be heading for Camden for the Equestriad CIC this weekend!
The latest numbers for the international classes are around 35 in the CIC3*, 45 in the CIC2* and 65 in the CIC*. There will probably be three classes for pre novice, preliminary and introductory and two for newcomers.
“We think this might be the biggest event ever held in Australia if not the Southern Hemisphere,” said Michelle Hasibar, who is one of the many keen Equestriad helpers and co-ordinates numerous things including many volunteers need to run such an event. “But I’m sure if I’m wrong about that someone will tell me,” she added!

In the CIC3* most of the potential Olympic riders will be out there to once again impress the selectors, while spectators, on Sunday, will get be able to watch the countries top riders from the comfort of the VIP Marquee. The lunch in the Marquee will be provided by Jamie McDonald and Lee Hokianga (a fellow eventer and well known chef) and anyone who has tasted their food will know you are in for a treat. During the day there will be a ‘Fashion Parade as well as an Auction and so you don’t have to move from your chair the marquee has a big screen TV to catch all the action of the day. And did I mention the unlimited beverages … Of course you can only get all this if you have bought your tickets so what are you waiting for?
See below for more details.
In between all the action riders and spectators will have the chance to browse through the 20 or so trade stands that will be at Bicentenial Park, supporting Equestriad. “We always have such a lovely time here,” said one business owner. “We are positioned really close to the cross country and main arena, not off to the side as we are at some events. What that means is not only are we able to watch some of the event and also we get more potential customers coming to look though our stand … we love coming to Equestriad.”
For those people who want to get involved with the nitty gritty end of the event please contact Michelle ([email protected]) to see what you can help with. There is always the need for jump judges on cross country day, people to pick up poles in the show jumping arena and help take down dressage arenas and of course the ever important person required to keep the toilets well supplied with toilet roll!
An Eventful Life will be there all weekend covering the event so be sure to check out the website for photos, articles and video clips during and after the event.
See you on Saturday and let’s all keep our fingers crossed for good weather.
