It was a real blow for the organisers of the Pakenham Produce & Saddlery Horse Trials in Victoria when their event, scheduled for 1st and 2nd February had to be postponed due to heat and fire risk. At the time organiser Stuart Benson was dismayed, saying that the Ewan Kellett designed course was looking magnificent but the committee made the right decision for the well-being of horses and riders and this weekend will see pony club and Equestrian Victoria riders heading to Huxtable Reserve for the re-scheduled event
The Pony Club Victoria classes are from Grades 1 – 5 so we’ll be seeing some adorable ponies (and some plain naughty ones, no doubt!) while there are three EA classes; the Pakenham Toyota Pre Novice, Equissage Preliminary and Altegra ‘Ezy Annexe’ Introductory
The venue at Huxtable Reserve is a hilly one with the cross country course starting high and gently following the line across the contours of the hill. A new water complex was unveiled last year and the all-weather sand arenas provide good surfaces for the dressage and show jumping phases
An Eventful Life will be videoing all competitors on the cross country course on Sunday so make sure you polish those boots and smile at the camera! You can simply order your video online during or after the event and it will be uploaded to An Eventful Life for viewing within 5 days. The videos can be viewed by all visitors to the site and copies can be provided by Dropbox. Video prices start at $60, private video options are available and discounts offered to An Eventful Life 4* Members
The winners of each class, or the best scoring winner in classes with multiple divisions, will have their video uploaded free as a part of our support for the event. To view samples of cross country videos from previous events click here
We'll also be covering the event with reports both days in our 4* content. See you all on the weekend!
