Shane Rose and Easy Turn at the Australian International 3 Day Event 2018
Shane Rose and Easy Turn started in the lead of the CCI4*-L at Wallaby Hill International after yesterday’s dressage and they kept the top spot today on cross country
Shane and last year’s 4*-L winner here, the nine-year-old Easy Turn, added 1.6 time penalties on cross country to stay ahead of Stuart Tinney riding Celebration who couldn’t catch Shane despite putting in a double clear cross country round. Stuart has however closed the gap and now there is just 0.7 penalties between them with Stuart currently on 27.2.
It is going to be a battle royal between the two friends tomorrow in the show jumping as all three horses have good show jumping records but Easy Turn had an unusual two rails at her last start at Equestriad and Celebration probably has the edge on past performances
Stuart also holds third place (29) riding Leporis, putting in another double clear on this horse while South Australia’s Sarah Clark was the only other rider to produce a double clear on board LV Balou Jeanz, currently in eighth place
Shane has also moved into the lead of the CCI4*-S after the withdrawal of the overnight leader, Christine Bates riding Adelaide Hill. Shane and Virgil remain on their dressage score of 27.40 with Shenae Lowings now in second place on Bold Venture (29.20) and Katie Taliana, wearing her newly-found ‘speedy pants’ coming home under time on Trevalgar II, for third place (30.80)
Andrew Barnett and Go Tosca still lead the CCI3*-L, Sam Fasher riding Sulitanos leads the CCI3*-S, Andrew Cooper leads the CCI2*-L on Pepper Jack and Willa Mitchell holds first and second places in the CCI2*-L Junior.
Andy Daines during his UK sojourn at Badminton 2018
Next week we’ll be reporting from Puhinui International where we have caught up with New Zealand’s Andy Daines in the past (and of course in the UK) but Andy is strutting his stuff in NSW at the moment and leading the CCN1*-L while Mia Gigliotti leads the CCN1*-L Junior
Sadly, the livestream proved troublesome but they did film the CCI4*-L and the recording is below
