It appears that the Australian based Shadow Squad riders will have the chance to compete at a special class during the Melbourne International 3 Day Event (June 8th – 11th).
While not obligatory, the Shadow Squad riders (Elite Squad and National A List) have until Friday 18th May to enter a class which will enable them to participate in a CNC 3* during which they will ride a 4* dressage test (the Olympic test), 2* cross country course and 3* showjumping course.
This class will give riders and horses who opt to participate a run in the lead up to the Olympic Games but it is not a selection event.
This is slightly different to, but reminiscent of the lead-up to the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky, when short listed Australian based riders had the option to compete in a changed format version at the 2010 Sydney Three Day Event.
