Quirindi is just 70 kilometres south of Country Music Capital, Tamworth, in the heart of the Liverpool Plains, known for its rich farming land and great eventing at a time when the weather is not quite so pleasant in other parts of Australia. Last weekend the popular NSW event ran classes from EvA45 Open to CNC2* which attracted top riders to grass roots competitors across the grades
Stuart Tinney made the journey to Quirindi well worthwhile with not only a win in the CNC 2* on his own Carlchen, but also third place on the Huskinson family’s War Hawk. Stuart has recently taken back the ride on Carlchen from his daughter Gemma who has been competing the German bred imported gelding in eventing and show jumping competitions
Andrew Barnett and Bradgate Park Fonzie continued a strong season and prevented Mr Tinney from taking another win in the CNC1*by adding only two time penalties on cross country to their dressage score to win the class. Bradgate Park Fonzie showed promise as a young horse, second in the 5 Year Old section of the Young Event Horse at the 2013 Sydney International Horse Trials and is now blossoming into a very promising prospect at international level. Stuart took second place riding the thoroughbred My Thai while the long legged George Sheridan and Equus Spencer took third place.
Another Olympian, Heath Ryan took two classes on his talented young horses; Brigalow R won the EvA105 Open and Wimborne Constable won the EvA95 Open
