Tamworth International Eventing would like to invite you to AELEC!

Some of the participants of the recent TD/CD clinic get a look around the TIE grounds

The Tamworth International Event gives you the chance to come to the North West Region of New South Wales (only an hour up the road past the Quirindi event) and experience everything the Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre (AELEC ) in Tamworth has to offer. This impressive centre will be the venue for one of the States newest events, started completely from scratch on gently undulating ground. It is the aim of the TIE committee to showcase eventing and provide riders and spectators with a state of the art facility that rivals anywhere in Australia.

Darryl Burgess (above) has been very involved with the building of the new course along with designer Titch Massey

“The hope is that as many of Australia’s 3* horse and rider combinations as possible will grace Tamworth so eventing can be proud of its achievements in this region,” said TIE President Sharmayne Spencer. Tich Massey from New Zealand, who is the designer of Puhinui CCI, has designed and built the cross country course alongside builder Darryl Burgess and a recent Course Design/Builder and Technical Delegate course held at AELEC gave the attendees a great opportunity to see what we are about to offer.

At the lower levels, there are new courses for Ev 80, 95 and 105cm and the aim for TIE is to have a 1* and 2* track built for 2013.

Some of the portables ready to go out on the course

On the same weekend TIE are also running 1* and 2* Combined Training Classes so that riders with 1* and 2* horses will also have the opportunity to compete at TIE’s inaugural AELEC event. The TIE Committee has chosen to run these classes in response to requests from riders who would like to bring a ‘full team’ of horses to AELEC, and/or do not have a 3*/lower level horses, yet would like to be a part of the first event so this should prove a popular move for the forward thinking committee.

Depending on the number of entries received the anticipated running the 1* and 2* dressage will be in the fabulous 40 x 80m AELEC indoor arena. Showjumping will be run in the indoor, utilising the CIC*** showjumping course, set at a lower height. All riders in the 1* and 2* class will compete at a height of 1.15m. However if time permits riders maybe will be able to jump a course of 1.20m. “As this is our first event at AELEC, we need to assess overall entry numbers and timetabling prior to committing to providing riders with the opportunity to jump a second round at 1.20m,” explained Sharmayne. “TIE sees this a ‘rider friendly’ initiative so please support us by entering!”

Looking back towards AELEC

Sharmayne also hopes people will “Like” Tamworth International Eventing on Facebook. “We are using our Facebook page to keep riders up to date with developments and share photographs of the course and AELEC facilities! And see our website  www.tie.equestrian.org.au  for the draw.”

John Lechner will be at AELEC giving full coverage of the event for An Eventful Life so come and jump a Golden Guitar and see a brand new course.

And if you think we are joking about the Golden Guitar just wait till we give you the next update on all the things that are happening at TIE.
