The Trans-Tasman comes to Sydney International Horse Trials

The Senior Trans-Tasman Challenge returns to Australian soil in 2013 and will be hosted by the Sydney International Horse Trials, 26-28 April 2013.

Leading eventing riders from Australia and New Zealand will go head to head in CCI3 star class at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre.

Australia will defend its title, won in 2012 by Shane Rose and Taurus, Natalie Blundell Algebra, Katja Weimann and BP Gallantry and Christine Bates Delago at Kihikihi (NZL) CIC3*.

Prue Barrett, Australian Performance Director for Eventing says, “The Trans-Taman is an important team event for us and is also an opportunity to give riders a taste of representing Australia without the move to the Northern Hemisphere”.

“The event creates the experience in the team environment which gives both the riders and management an opportunity to develop a great team culture which is vital in winning at the Olympic Games and World Equestrian Games,” she added.

The Australian squad will be announced a few weeks before the event and a training camp will be conducted leading into the competition.

The Senior Trans-Tasman Challenge is held in alternate years, between World Equestrian Games and Olympic Games.

The most recent Senior Trans-Tasman results have been:

2012 – AUS won in NZL

2011 – Not held

2009 – AUS won in AUS

2007 – NZL won in NZL

2005 – AUS won in AUS

2003 – NZL won in NZL
