Luckily Lara Pizimolas, who suffered two badly fractured ankles at the Australian International 3 Day Event, is back on two legs again as she has a busy weekend ahead organising the Kennards Hire Lockington Horse Trials in South Australia. Those of you who followed our lead-up to the big event in Adelaide will know that we’re rather fond of fish and chips with a glass of South Australian white at the Flying Fish Café at Horseshoe Bay and hanging out at Victor Harbour. It seems that, apart from food, wine, horse drawn trams and other attractions in this famous tourist area, another reason to be there this weekend is to attend the nearby Lockington Horse Trials.

Held at Evesham, the property of John & Phil Whellams at Range Road, Waitpinga the event will have four classes this weekend – EvA80 (two divisions), EvA95, EvA105 and CNC1*. Last year’s winner Fiona Guthrie will be competing in the CNC1* on Belle Amour and she has several horses in the other classes while Megan Jones, as she told us at Pakenham Horse Trials last weekend, will be competing here, also in various classes. In the EvA105 on Kirby Park Invader and Clever she will be up against some good competition including another very stylish South Australian rider, Cooper Oborn also on two horses in this class. Megan’s grey superstar Kirby Park Irish Jester will be strutting his stuff with his ‘dad’ on board, James Deacon in the EvA80 Division 1.

In addition to these classes there is a popular Newcomers class for less experienced combinations and young horses.

The event has some great sponsors (including a wine company which seems to be tempting fate) and we’re looking forward to hearing how it all went next week
