The Australian International 3 Day Event winning 4* horse TS Jamaimo is heading to the UK to be campaigned by Chris Burton
Chris, who got the catch ride in Adelaide on TS Jamaimo when his usual rider Will Enzinger was injured in the lead-up to Australia’s only 4* event, is delighted that the 13 year old bay thoroughbred gelding is joining him in the UK as a new addition to his stable, thanks to a syndicate of owners
“What an amazing story, I can't believe my luck” says Chris “I am so grateful for the support of so many fantastic Australian owners and two new British owners.
I will be endeavouring to do my best and am looking forward to an exciting year”
Although the syndicate members have not yet been named, there are 11 people involved in purchasing the new ride for Chris and it looks as if the first big event they will be attending to cheer on their new purchase will at Badminton Horse Trials in May
TS Jamaimo, who finished fourth at the Melbourne International 3 Day Event in 2013 with Will Enzinger and has been a consistent performer at 3* level, was for sale for some time before his strong performance to win the Australian International 3 Day Event last November on his dressage score
Chris, who was in Australia to present the Masterclass at the Australian International 3 Day Event and hold clinics around the country had only a few days to acquaint himself with the ride before winning the 4*. In our interview straight after the win he very modestly acknowledged the preparation that Will Enzinger and his team had done with the horse and said
“I was just the jockey - all I had to do was steer him between the flags"
If that’s what he can do with only a few days, we’re really looking forward to seeing what happens in the future!
