Megan and Kirby Park Impress moved into fourth place
We spoke (or wrote) too soon yesterday so this morning the results of yesterday’s CCI2* dressage were slightly different to those we provided!
Two of the riders later in the day, both ladies from Victoria, moved into the top ten with Tania Harding and the leggy Jirrima Yorkshire sharing sixth spot with Nikki Richardson and Emily Anker moving into equal ninth on Glenwood Park Cooper Street.
However at the end of the morning it was still Christine Bates and Kung Fu Panda leading the way in the CCI2* with Megan Jones and Kirby Park Invader still in second place. Megan also managed to move into fourth place on her third ride in this class on Kirby Park Impress scoring 50.80.Yesterday Christine commented that she felt that the judges’ scores were quite low and several riders seem to feel the same however they were also consistent throughout the two days of judging
Rob Palm and Koko Story
The only other combination to break into the top ten today were Rob Palm and Koko Story. Koko Story is usually ridden by Rob’s soon-to-be-wife Cassie Lowe, the CCI2* winner here last year on Koko Black. Cassie is here at the event but in a supporting role for Rob as she is busy planning their coming wedding
“I didn’t want to come here to compete and worry about falling off before the wedding” laughs Cassie, who was pretty happy with her stand-in jockey’s performance. Rob was happy too with the seven year old thoroughbred who handled the Adelaide arena like an old pro to score 54.80 and move into seventh place
There have been quite a few riders from Western Australia competing in this class and they have received great support from the ‘WA fan club’ that has been very vocal in the stands for their riders. The very last rider of the CCI2* was a Western Australian in her first visit to Adelaide - Cindy Lyall riding a very attractive off the track thoroughbred GI Joe. Cindy was delighted with her test which scored 57.5 to finish in 18th place after dressage
Hugs all round for Cindy Lyall
