From Chatsworth to Adult Riding Club, there's a lot on this weekend around the eventing world
It’s going to be another big weekend of eventing here on AEL with coverage coming up from around Australia and the UK for our 4* members
The beautiful Chatsworth House and Estate in Derbyshire, England provides a wonderful backdrop for the Dodson & Horrell Chatsworth International Horse Trials from 6th – 8th May. Libby Law will be scampering between the many rings to bring us photos of the many British and international riders who will be competing in classes ranging from the Dubarry Young Event Horse classes to CIC3*. The feature class is the CIC3* Dodson & Horrell Challenge which sees the on-form Oliver Townend, Vittoria Panizzon, Nicola Wilson and several of the top French riders competing which should make it a strong field. Mark Todd, Blyth Tait and Jonelle Price will be there for New Zealand while Paul Tapner and Lucinda Fredericks will be flying the Aussie flag
Back in Australia, Alison Duthie will be bringing us daily coverage from Camden in NSW for the first Eventing Equestriad of the year. The May CIC event offers classes from EvA60 to the Bates Saddles CIC3* with the Saturday night looking set to be full of fun with show jumping under lights for the CIC2* and CIC3* classes. Pheasants Nest Produce will be providing some yummy food and there will be a bar by the arena on Saturday evening, complete with music so it could be a long night for some!
The Horse Riding Clubs Association of Victoria is a very popular choice for Victorian, and some NSW, riders with over 5,600 members and their annual Horse Trials Top Teams Trophy is one we always look forward to covering. Although the competition is stiff, the atmosphere is always a jovial one with everyone intent on a good time and this year the event is being hosted by Yarrambat Adult Riding Club. We’ll be videoing all riders on cross country on both Saturday and Sunday and bringing you our report from the event early next week
Naracoorte Horse Trials is celebrating its 40th anniversary and this year is running international level competition at CIC***, CIC** and CIC* plus Pre-Novice, Preliminary, Introductory and Newcomers classes. The event incorporates the 2014 South Australian Eventing State Championships and the new 1, 2 and 3 star cross country tracks and updated courses for the lower grades means it will an exciting and fresh challenge for all competitors. The Newcomers class is also a new addition, giving grass roots riders and also the more experienced riders with young horses a chance to enjoy some less taxing competition. Tazzie Eggins will be out snapping competitors at Naracoorte for AEL so there will be plenty of photos to view shortly after
