Virgil is adding to his titles and his mum is coming to see what he is up to at Bimbadeen Park
A great deal has happened since our last bulletin. Most significantly Shane’s early arrival home after an untimely injury ruled ‘Arvey’ (Taurus) out of the London Olympics. Shane really appreciated the support he received from the Equestrian Australia management and staff, Arvey’s owners Johnnie and Christelle Walker, supergroom Michelle Robson and also his friends and supporters. Denis Goulding, Graeme Potts and Prue Barrett were great support and did everything possible to assist Arvey to make it to the Games but unfortunately is was just not meant to be.
Shane was really overwhelmed by the level of support shown to him, he received countless e-mails, letters, calls and texts from friends, supporters and even strangers. Shane really appreciated everyone’s kind words and messages. Arvey is currently at the Eastern Creek Quarantine station and will be home later this month.
Shane’s disappointment was quickly put behind him and all his young horses were enrolled into Bimbadeen boot camp; their training is already underway with the World Championship in Normandy and the Rio Olympic Games in mind.
A truck load of Bimbadeen horses have attended several showjumping competitions in the past few weeks, with all the horses jumping well. Rachel and Bureaucratic placed in both their classes at Jumping in the Hawkesbury. Shane and Shanghai Joe placed 2nd in the 6yo class at the Showcase of Showjumping at the Sydney Polo Grounds.
Niki has been seen out and about at a few Dressage days with Wallstrasse, they attended Hawkesbury dressage and won their Advanced test and placed 3rd in the Prix St Georges. They also competed at Clarendon to place 3rd in the Advanced but out of the placings in the Prix St Georges due to several errors which Niki takes responsibility for. Niki was due to make her return to eventing at Berrima CIC but unfortunately Wisteria Lane has sustained an injury and will need the rest of the year off. Niki has been eyeing off a few of the young Riverside horses as potential event horses for herself, it will just be a matter of which one she is allowed to steal from Shane’s team.
The crew had several horses competing at the Equestriad event at Camden, Shane had a successful weekend with Virgil adding another 2* win to his résumé. Shane also won the 1* with the Wischer families ‘CP Qualified’ who is a new resident at Bimbadeen Park. Our two homebred babies went well with Fantastic Mr Fox (by Another Warrior) placing 2nd in the Prelim and Pumpkin (by Statford Novalis) placing 6th. Riverside Krissy was having her first competition outing and went well with just a few green moments keeping her out of the placings; Krissy will now have a well-earned break. Michelle rode Eastern Star Capone into 4th place, a great result for this lovely young horse’s first eventing start. Rachel rode Bureaucratic in the Pre Novice they jumped double clear with just time penalties keeping them out of the top ten.
Michelle Hasibar told us that she has been holding out on buying us a wedding present until she found something suitable, now 18 months later she has informed us that our wedding present will be delivered this week! We are excited about the arrival of Virgil’s mum; Michelle sold the mare after Virgil was weaned but she has tracked her down and she is coming to Bimbadeen Park with the hope of breeding more horses as talented as Virgil.
