The Royal Warmblood Studbook of the Netherlands KWPN (Koninklijk Warmbloed Paarden Stamboek Nederland) has swept the boards in the end of year World Breeding Federation for Sport Horse rankings
The WBFSH rankings are based on the show results from the FEI competition year which runs from 1st October until 30 September the following year.
The WBFSH Rankings are published mid-October each year and the winning studbooks are honoured during the WBFSH General Assembly, which this year took place on 14th October as a webinar due COVID-19
The Royal Warmblood Studbook of the Netherlands (KWPN – Koninklijk Warmbloed Paarden Stamboek Nederland) topped the rankings in all three disciplines of dressage, show jumping and eventing.
Studbook Eventing Final 2020
1. 723 – KWPN (Koninklijk Warmbloed Paarden Stamboek Nederland)
2. 698 – SF (Stud Book du Cheval Selle Français/SBSF)
3. 657 – HANN (Hannoveraner Verband e.V)
Points are awarded on a basis related to the star rating of the individual event and a set of points has been devised that rewards the horse according to the status of the qualifying event and its finishing position. A horse must complete and achieve the Minimum Eligibility Requirements (MER) in the event in order to receive points. A horse's best six scores over the season count towards its position in the ranking.
The studbook rankings are calculated by adding the points of the best six horses of a studbook. (the same calculation method is used for dressage and eventing).
The top six eventing horses that contributed to the success of the KWPN in 2020 were;
Scuderia 1918 Don Quidam ridden by Kevin McNab (AUS)
Herby ridden by Tim Lips (NED)
