Equestrian Australia confirms it has been notified by the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) of a positive A sample from the horse Clifton Pinot ridden by Kevin McNab at the Burghley International Horse Trials.
Statement from Equestrian Australia regarding the positive testing for Clifton Pinot and the suspension of Australian rider Kevin McNab
"Equestrian Australia confirms it has been notified by the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) of a positive A sample from the horse Clifton Pinot ridden by Kevin McNab at the Burghley International Horse Trials.
The horse was tested as part of the routine testing conducted under the FEI Equine Clean Sport program, with the A sample for Clifton Pinot testing positive for the substance ‘Reserpine’.
As a result Kevin has been provisionally suspended from international and national competitions effective immediately, until further notice, pending the outcome of any FEI tribunal hearings and testing of the B Sample. Clifton Pinot has been suspended provisionally for two months pending the outcome of any FEI tribunal hearings and testing of the B Sample.
EA will provide guidance to Kevin as he works through the options available to him through the FEI processes.
EA treats any breaches of doping and medication control seriously and has fully adopted and endorsed the FEI and ASADA anti-doping policies and procedures in this regard.
As the matter is currently before the FEI, EA cannot make any further comments and any enquiries should be directed to the FEI"
