Australian Olympian and Canadian Team Coach Recognized by City Mayor
Australian Olympic Silver Medalist and Canadian Eventing Team Coach, Clayton Fredericks, 45, has been awarded the Keys of the City of Ocala, Florida in a ceremony at the City Hall today. The Mayor of Ocala, Kent Guinn, made the presentation at a meeting with City Council members. The presentation of the Keys of the City is made at the Mayor's discretion to recognize Ocala citizens who are making a notable contribution to the community.
"I feel very honored as a new resident of Marion County to be presented with the Keys of the City," said Fredericks. "I would like to thank the Mayor of Ocala and city council members for this privilege and what will always be a memorable occasion. I chose to relocate from the UK to this area of Florida for many reasons and a chance meeting with Chuck and Anne Koch at Oak Lane Farm has already proved to be fortuitous in enabling me to establish my business in an ideal location. The people of Ocala have been extremely welcoming to myself and my team as we begin the process of settling in and we have some exciting plans to build Fredericks Equestrian International in different sectors of the sport. Ocala has a reputation for its dynamic horse industry and together with its ancillary trades and ideal climate for horse sports it has undoubtedly been the right move for me."
Fredericks was named as the new Canadian Eventing International Technical Advisor and Coach this year and has already begun team training sessions at Oak Lane Farm., Citra. Fredericks is also showing a string of horses at the Ocala Horse Park and Rocking Horse events this season.
