Australia’s Clayton Fredericks took two top placings with young horses this weekend at the Rocking Horse Winter II Horse Trials in Altoona, Florida.
The seven year old German Sporthorse gelding Rendezvous With Charly (Rich Charly - Heraldik) won the Open Training - B division finishing on his dressage score of 26.4. 'Rudy' had previously won at Pre Novice level and competed in Novice Qualifier for Bundeschampionat in Germany. He has also competed in 1.20m show jumping classes and placed in the top three in dressage classes.
His stable companion, who was also recently imported from Germany, the six year old German Sporthorse gelding Shadow on the Wall (Samos - Grundyman) took second place in the Open Training - A division with a double clear to finish on 33.6 penalties. 'George' also won and was highly placed in Pre Novice and a Novice Qualifier for the Bundeschampionat in Germany before arriving at Fredericks' Oak Lane Farm stables earlier this year.
"I was very pleased with all the horse's performances this weekend; they went really well and I was particularly impressed because this was their first training competition in the U.S.", said Fredericks.
Clayton also finished 7th aboard another German import, the six year old German Sporthorse gelding Catchascatchcan (Catch)by Canterbury in the Open Training - A division on a score of 38.1. All three horses will continue with a spring campaign and are offered for sale.
This week Clayton will be hosting the third Canadian training camp of the season at Oak Lane Farm in his role as Canadian Team Coach.
