All of the riders admitted that the show jumping course was really tough in the CIC 3* at Jardy , France
“Walterstown Don has never had to jump so high!” said Clayton Fredericks
But the Australian star was right to choose Jardy in replacement of Badminton, even if it was not the same level.
“We had to give the horses a run and some needed to qualify” he explained

After three perfect clear rounds on the cross country course on Saturday afternoon, Clayton could bid for a full hat trick. Starting in first place with Be My Guest, he had the proof that the course was actually really tough. 16 penalties on the fences, plus 9 times penalties, too many points for him to expect a hat trick. Only 5 couples finally realized a clear round, including Kitty King (GBR) who climbed up to the 4th place with her young Polydox mare, Zidante.
Clayton did not do better than 8 faults with his two other mounts, Walterstown Don and Bendigo III. The fluid ride of Bill Levett aboard One Two Many NJ (his Badminton horse) with only 4 faults put the pressure on his team mate, but Clayton had too much in hand and he finally won with his more experienced horse, Bendigo III. Eddy Sans (FRA), with 8 penalties, remained the best French rider and ranked 5th riding Mayland de Brunel.

CCI2*: Rodolphe Scherer back on top with Makara de Montiège

Pre-selected in 2010 on the French A-list for the WEG in Lexington (USA), Makara de Montiège, ridden by French Rodolphe Scherer was sold to Austin O'Connor (IRL) just before it. Last year, after many tries, the Irish rider decided to give Makara back to her former partner. Rodolphe Scherer competed then for the first time in Saumur on a national level class (10th) but today is their first international result since their reunion. Rodolphe and Makara beat another French couple, Philippe Perrin and Phebus de la Mure by only 0.8 pt. Thanks to her clear round on the show jumping test, Gemma Tattersall (GBR) go on the 3rd step of podium riding Chico Bella P.
