The grounds of the Gold Fields Equestrian Club Inc, in between Fosterville and Goornogh, Central Victoria, played host to the 2009 Pony Club State Championships and the 2011 RDA State Championships. It is a venue which has a lot to offer and the club is keen to run more competitions, clinics and events in the future but they need help to restore the cross country course after last year's floods.
“The water ravaged the ground around the cross country jumps and caused huge erosion, it broke through dam banks and knocked down trees,” says Georgina Wood, the club Secretary. “We have built up our membership and have a great group of people who have worked hard to repair what we can but now we need to get some earthmoving done and buy some gravel as well as more equipment.”
The Equine Ed Seminar Series is a fund raising initiative of the club. Georgina explained, “We are going to be conducting a seminar every Saturday afternoon over the next two months with presentations on Horse Health; Breeding and Stud management; Training young horses; Careers in the horse industry; what you need to know about legal contracts as well as reviewing the results and our performances at the London Olympic Games.”
“We are really grateful to our speakers, sponsors and venues for their participation and support. We've planned some great topics and presentations as well as some fun competitions and door prizes, so you won't want to miss out” said Georgina, “we are even going to try a live video cast with some of the Australian riders overseas.”
Everyone who attends a seminar in 2012 will go into the draw to win the following:
- 1st - A service to an ESB Stallion, including Tete de la Course (TB) - Valued at $2,200
- 2nd - A nights accommodation for two and their horses at The Bush Courtyard - Valued at $176
- 3rd - A training session at the Gold Fields cross country course - Valued at $33
- Plus more surprises
The seminars are planned for several different locations around Victoria. If you would like to attend or need more information you can follow the links from the Gold Fields website or find Gold Fields on Facebook.
