Deon is stoked with new sponsorship

Deon Stokes

As we saw during Melbourne International 3 Day Event, there is a wealth of talent in Western Australia. One rider from WA who didn’t compete at Melbourne this year but has been having a good year is Deon Stokes.

Deon is one of those multi-talented types who not only compete successfully in eventing but in dressage too (shades of Heath Ryan here). He is currently the Australian National Medium Dressage Champion, the Advanced Freestyle Dressage Champion and the Western Australian Domestic Athlete of the year – last year he even managed to win he won the CIC* at WAYER@Brookleigh, as well as three classes at the WA State Dressage Championships on the same weekend!

Deon’s dedication has been recognised by another Western Australian icon, Bates Saddles who have just welcomed Deon to the team of Bates advocates – a team which includes some of our favourite eventers such as Stuart Tinney, Shane Rose, Craig and Prue Barrett (not forgetting Oliver) and Blair Richardson – all who happen to be AEL bloggers!

Congratulations to Deon and we hope to catch up with him soon to find out more about his eventing plans for the future (in Bates saddles of course!)
