Dreadful weather puts damper on NSW Pony Club Championships

The children from Zone 10 coming to terms with no cross country this weekend

The news from the NSW Pony Club one day event championships being held at Albury is not good. Thanks very much to Pony Club mum’s Louise Horsley and Sally Quirico for this quick update.

“Well it started raining at 5.30 this morning and has not stopped! No one was prepared for this kind of weather! We had dressage in the rain and cross country got under way with championship grade, but after we were hit by thunder and lightning the cross country was called off after A grade," said Louise.

"There are lots of very disappointed B and C grade riders but after the horrific weather the going is now terrible with the potential for accidents just too high. Show jumping is scheduled for 9am tomorrow but the rain still falling - we must have had over an inch at this stage.”

Event organiser, Bradley Hayden, said "We are all disappointed but that's just the way it goes. The annoying thing is it looks like we will wake up to good weather tomorrow  - just a shame we couldn't have had that today. Everyone is just making the best of it and lots of people are just about to go and have dinner with Shane Rose so I'm sure that will keep us all entertained."
