Equestrian Australia has announced details of its 2013 conference to be held in Sydney from Friday 16 – Saturday 17 August.
The two day event will offer a diverse program including presentations from speakers within the equine industry as well as leading representatives from a host of other sports.
Equestrian Australia CEO Grant Baldock said this year’s schedule includes a dynamic line-up of speakers which appealed to all members of the equestrian community.
“The conference is open to anyone involved in the equine industry who is interested in sharing knowledge, learning about trends in sport and developing new skill-sets.
“As well as hearing from a host of equine experts, the Equestrian Australia conference provides coaches, officials, clubs, riders, and event organisers with a chance to hear from representatives of other sports and learn how they have worked to achieve key outcomes, the strategies which they implemented and how they overcame any challenges.”
A highlight of the weekend will be the keynote address to be given by acclaimed author Janine Shepherd. Janine was on track to represent Australia at the winter Olympics until an accident during a training session left her fighting for life. Her prognosis was grim but she defied doctors’ predictions who said she would never walk again, but walk she did and along the way she also attained her pilots licence.
With topics covering equine nutrition and physiology, insurance, technology and social media as well as presentations from the Australian Sports Commission on the changing needs in sport and good club governance, this year’s conference offers something for everyone.
EA Coaches and Officials who attend the two day conference will be able to count six updating points towards their forthcoming reaccreditation. Attendance may also count as a tax deduction.
Clubs – stay tuned for a special announcement which will give clubs a chance to apply for financial assistance so that a representative from your club can attend this event.
In 2011 EA’s inaugural conference was attended by 174 delegates from around Australia and was positively received by participants.
“It was fantastic,” commented Christine Johnson, a level two general coach. “It was a great initiative. I would highly recommend it to everyone for next time. It really inspired thought and interaction.”
