South Australia’s Olympic rider Megan Jones won the 2014 Eventing Rider of the Year - Anna Savage Memorial Trophy and her horse Kirby Park Allofsudden won the 2014 Eventing Horse of the Year at this week’s Equestrian South Australia Awards
Kirby Park Allofasudden came back from a lengthy spell in October this year and went on to place second in the CCI4* at the Australian International 3 Day Event. Despite her top horse being out of action for most of the year, Megan still had a successful season with several of her up and coming stars winning and placing throughout the levels including a third place in the CCI2* in Adelaide on the home bred Kirby Park Invader
Megan, who was not able to be at the Awards night due to coaching commitments in Western Australia said on her Facebook page “Anna I hope you are proud. You were a strong role model to me as a junior”
One of Megan’s long time pupils, 19 year old Jaimie Stichel won the 2014 Eventing Young Rider of the Year - The Tasha Khouzam Memorial Trophy. Jaimie won the CIC3* at Naracoorte and was also part of the winning Australia team at the Oceania Young Rider Eventing Championships this year riding her grey Irish Sport Horse Image Blue Ice
