This event incorporated the Phillip Dutton Eventing Scholarship for competitors taking part in the in 1* or EvA105 (PN) over two rounds; Round 1 - 14/15th April 2012 and Round 2 - 22/23rd September 2012. The scholarship includes 3 weeks accommodation and tuition, plus airfare to the Phillip Dutton Eventing Academy PA, USA between May 2013 and August 2013. It is awarded on a combination of results at both Mid West events plus resume and interview at the September event. We’ll bring you more about the winner shortly

Avenal at Oaklands, Victoria, Australia
Originally hosting the 1956 Olympic Pentathalon, Oaklands was also the home of Melbourne 3DE prior to its move to Werribee in 1980. This year the CNC*** was an exciting and new track for Avenel, professionally designed and built by Ewan Kellet to give horse and rider new challenges. The CNC ** was a new course in 2006 and continues to be upgraded while CNC * and Pre Novice offered a variety of fences with many options.

Australian National Showjumping Championships, Victoria, Australia
The 52nd annual Australian Show Jumping Championships took place at the Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre in Victoria from 20th – 23rd September.
260 riders and 523 horses from across Australia converged on Australia’s most southern mainland state to contest the four day event which crowned the Junior, Young Rider and Senior Australian Champion as well as Australian Speed Champion.
Fresh from a three month stint at Gilbert Bockmann’s stables in Germany which he attended as a recipient of an EA training scholarship, Tom McDermott took out the Senior Australian Championship riding CP Romantic Dream
“The Australian Showjumping Champs is my first big event since arriving home and it's looking fantastic. After the Championships I'll be focusing on the World Cups, with Melbourne the next of this series. I am really grateful to be able to do what I do,” he said.
Tom also took out the Wyndham harbor Australian Young Rider Championship riding Statford Delight while Jake Hunter and Midnight Rock won the Carson Property & Richard’s Coach Works Australian Junior Championship

Global Champions Tour, Vienna
Penelope Leprevost took the honours in the main class and the stage is set for a fight to the finish in Abu Dhabi with three riders in contention for the 2012 championship after a dramatic night of show jumping at GCT’s inaugural event in Vienna.

South of England International Eventing

The rain is back in the UK – big time. Due to heavy rain the Intermediate class at South of England on Sunday 23rd September was abandoned but the CIC **class went ahead as scheduled with Australia’s Chris Burton on Graf Liberty winning the class, Paul Tapner third on Yogi Bear VIII and Clayton Fredericks sixth on Sorrento.
In other classes Paul also took third on Pioneer Milly in the Novice section H while Chris certainly had a good weekend and took third in the CIC 1*riding Dancing Hugo
Mark Todd showed again how good he as a catch rider winning the Open Novice on Pippa Funnell’s horse, Billy Landretti. Pippa sustained injuries at Le Grand Complet in France in late August
FEI Nations Cup Showjumping Promotional League Final
It was sweet success for Marco Fuste’s Spanish side today when they snatched victory from Sweden in the closing moments of the 2012 FEI Nations Cup™ Promotional League Final on home turf in Barcelona.
