While dad, Will Enzinger and mum, Emily Anker were busy instructing on the great training facilities of Little Wandin at Wandin Park, new arrival Ethan Kevin Enzinger was happily sleeping in the comfort of a darkened car. He didn't even wake when we peeked inside and snapped him snoozing!
“He’s a real eventing baby” said Emily “Already out on a cross country course”
Ethan is officially four weeks old but, as he was not actually due until this weekend, he was actually still meant to be inside his mum
“Perhaps that’s why he is sleeping so well” said Emily “Maybe we’re due for a shock when he figures out he’s meant to be in the big wide world!”
Will works with riders on his cross country clinic at Wandin Park ......................
Ethan certainly has been born into an eventing family. Will’s most recent success was as the winner of the Two Star class at the Australian International 3 Day Event riding Flowervale Maserati and there are a string of very good horses bringing Will back up to top level eventing where he has had success in the past. He’s also well known as an empathetic but effective trainer for horses and riders of all levels so we took the chance to sit in on one of his cross country sessions at Wandin Park and will be bringing you some of his top schooling tips in the near future
......... and Emily is back on the cross country course again - but just to instruct (for the moment)
Emily had to spend some time in hospital leading up to the birth of Ethan so the couple spent an unusual wedding anniversary, Christmas and New Year’s Eve at the hospital in 2012. Emily has also had a long history of success in eventing including winning the 3 Star at the Melbourne International 3 Day Event in 2004 and having represented Australia on the 1998 Trans Tasman team and she certainly doesn’t plan to be out of the saddle for long.
It seems that Ethan is going to get used to being on a cross country course a lot!
